I would rate this story 4 out of 5 stars. It was very slow for the first 100-150 pages, but the action picked up immensely in the end. Overall it was a good overall story line.
This book has won The Maryland BlachEyedSusan award, the Nebraska Golden Sower award, and the Indiana young Hoosier award.
Story overview
In the Compound by S.A Bodeen Eli’s father seems to be the typical person. He is rich, a genius, and has a normal everyday life. But he is obsessed with the possibility of a nuclear attack and builds the Compound, the perfect doomsday location. But while on a family trip in Colorado, Rex (Eli’s father) says that there is going to be a nuclear attack, and the family heads to the stronghold. But they are without their grandma, and Eli’s twin brother Eddy. They wait as long as they can, but ultimately have to do what is better for the majority of the family and close the hatch. They live for six years thinking they are the only people on the earth alive, but it is everything but that. Now they can’t get out. Their dad won’t let them.
