Conclusion

Hopefully, the Bayou ecosystem will continue to prosper without any disturbances to the ecosystem.During this Prezi I discovered the functions of the ecosystem of the bayou as well food chains and food webs.

Disturbances in the Food web and Food chain

Disturbances in the food chain and food web is when an amount of prey or predator becomes to large things start get unbalanced.

Ex. The herons eat fish and the fish eats the worms. Later, the population of the fish grew and the bugs population in that area decreased. The herons have much of a job to do. Mostly because of the growth in the fish population. Their job is to keep the fish population down.

Parts of the food chain and food web

By: Caleigh Dawson

A food web is a system of interlocking and interdependent food chains.A food chain is a series of organisms each dependent on the next as a source of food.

Ex.

Herbivores or primary consumers -- an example is a rabbit that eats grass.

The next link in the chain is animals that eat herbivores - these are called secondary consumers -- an example is a snake that eat rabbits.

In turn, these animals are eaten by larger predators -- an example is an owl that eats snakes.

The tertiary consumers are are eaten by quaternary consumers -- an example is a hawk that eats owls. Each food chain end with a top predator, and animal with no natural enemies (like an alligator, hawk, or polar bear).

The arrows in a food chain show the flow of energy, from the sun or hydrothermal vent to a top predator. As the energy flows from organism to organism, energy is lost at each step. A network of many food chains is called a food web.

Bayou

Bayous are commonly found in the Gulf Coast region of the southern United States, notably the Mississippi River region, with the state of Louisiana being famous for them. Mosquitoes, slugs, crayfish, turtles, cranes, alligators, snakes, bullfrogs, shrimps, herons, and, grasshoppers live in the bayou.
