Uncle Jack is the younger brother of Atticus and Alexandra. He has nobody to love in Boston, besides his cat Rose Alymer.He comes to visit for one week every year, at Christmas.
Every single year Uncle Jack teases Miss Maudie to marry him. When she declines the offer, he just go's about as if nothing has ever happened.
These show us that he is constant in what he does and says. He keeps everything simple and the same. Being the youngest out of the three, Uncle jack can somehow relate to Scout in several different ways.

As a doctor, Uncle Jack has the ability to distract the patient while painfully removing and object their body, often by laughter. He has such a varied sense of humour.
"You'll have to teach 'em how to shoot," said Uncle Jack.
"That's your job," said Atticus.

The fact that Uncle Jack must teach them, because Atticus refuses to teach his own children how to use the gift he got them, is a sign of forshadowing.
"-You're more like Atticus than your mother, he said. You're also growing out of your pants a little.
- I reckon they fit all right.
- You like words like damn and hell now, don't you?
I said I reckoned so.

When Uncle Jack and Scout have this conversation, he really means that she is not acting her age. he does not apreciate this new attitude that she has developed.
Uncle Jack and his older brother have a discussion on how with time, adults remember what it is like being a child and how they must learn to understand what a child wants and needs to be loved.
Uncle Jack is told by Scout that he does not fully understand children and that he should never make assumptions on only one side of the story.
