Maltase is in the digestive systems of an indiviuals' body. It is catergorized as a,''Digestive Enzyme."

One disease that defects maltase is called Pompe disease.

Mutations in the gene called GAA causes pompe disease. The mutation causes maltase not to breakdown glucose which builds up toxic levels in lysosomes.
