Authentic leader is to able maintain positive relationships with followers by genuinely being true to himself. His or her identity is transparent and the drive to make a difference is the focus of his leadership.

The Authentic Leader Theory has three interrelated identity systems: the self-identity system, the leader-identity system, and the spiritual-identify system, which has multiple sub-identities that have cognitive, affective and conative elements. It theoretical model is drawn from the authentic leadership based on humanistic psychology, existential philosophy, and social identity as well as self-categorization theory, leader prototypicality, and spiritual leadership theory. Moreover, the fundamental premise of authentic leadership theory is spirituality which is at the core of authentic leadership (Klenke, 2005).
