Summary

The Main Characters

This book is about a kid named Querry Genn and his fight to get his memory back. The reader first learns of him living amongst other people in a colony. This colony was called Survival Colony 9. It was one of the last colonies still alive. The book takes place in desert plains and abandoned towns. The reasons for the setting is because of the war that took place 50 years ago. However, surviving is not their only problem. Querry and the rest of the group have problems with an unknown species. They are called the skaldi. No one knows who they are or how they came about. The only real description they know about them is that they can take control of people's bodies. Querry feels that something should be done to stop all of this, but he feels the only way to do it is with his lost memories.

Passage Two

"That was what finally made up my mind. He was my responsibility now, at least until I found someone else to take care of him" (Bellin 261).

Passage One

My Recommendation

My Rating of the book

"And I remembered what Laman had told me, what he'd told all of us. 'Life', he'd said that day in the compound, 'isn't a penance for the past. Life isn't about looking back. It's about looking ahead' "(Bellin 324).

I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in adventures. The author sets the book in a post-apocalyptic world and also makes the story very action packed. Every time you think something is going to happen, the opposite happens instead.

I would give this book a PG-13 rating because it does have mild violence. The violence is not too extreme though. Anyone who is 14 years old and up should not have a problem reading this book.
