My precdiction for the next chapter is Amari will get healed by the medicine and will continue to work in the kitchen house. Amari and Polley will be good friends and would care about each other even though Polley wasn't thrilled about working with slaves in the kitchen and wanted to be tranferred. I also think that Clay would feel for Amari and understand what she is going through. I still think that Teenie would continue to give hope and always make Amari think that she has a strong spirit and could fight through anything.

In this chapter I was shocked to know that the slaves are forced to work very hard, if they make a small mistake they would be beaten and punished. I also had other thoughts about this chapter, I was happy when Polley assisted Amari after the beating. Polley enjoyed Amari's company when working in the kitchen house. I felt that the girls are bonding and they both have feelings for each other. Polley was very angry when Mr. Derby was beating Amari because it is very cruel to do this to Amari even though she accidently tripped by his leg and fell down.
