All the women in this scene are suppoed to get married to a strong tough man who will fight for china and there family, and the women become housewives and hopefully future mums to boys.

Grandmother- in this scene Fa Li(Mulans Grandmother) is humourous and helpful towards her family. She gives tokens of luck to Mulan before she goes to The Match Maker.

Matchmaker-is an impatient and harsh woman, who judges potential brides.

Mulan- Is a young chinese tomboy who works very hard to impress her dad.She has natural beauty but is clumsy, outspoken, and independent. Which is why her meeting with the matchmaker ended in chaos, that and help from a certain cricket, and why the matchmaker claimed that even though she has the looks of a bride, it will never work because all she will do is dishonor her parents and her future husband.

Techniques

There are many techniques featured in this scene including close- ups on the main things in the scene eg- a close up on mulans hair and lips to show her charm"like a lotus blossom".

Through out the scene the camera focuses on the main character, Mulan.
