The Faun
From the first time viewers look at the faun they
think that he is an evil figure. This isn't true
throughout the entire film the faun guides Ofelia
through her quest. He is much like a messenger for
the king of the Underworld and wants to help Ofelia.
The Faun can be perceived as both the mentor as
well as the friendly beast. When Ofelia first meets
the faun she is a bit frightened of him but she
is relieved when she finds out that he
wants to help her.

Summary
Pan's Labyrinth is a story about a young girl named
Ofelia who along with her pregnant mother is sent to
live with her new stepfather,Captain Vidal. All of
Ofelia's life she had been fascinated by fairy tales. One night while she was lying in bed a fairy came to her and
took her through a labyrinth. When they reached the center she met an old faun who tells her that she is the
princess of the underworld. Many years ago she escaped and her soul was destined to live among the humans. Her
father, the king, opened many portals in an attempt to
find her. Finally she was found but, first she must prove herself. She must complete three incredibly dangerous tasks before the next full moon or she will
never be able
to return to the underworld.
