Interesting Facts

Second rarest snake in the world.

Cridically endagered.

They are highly vemenous.

Typically, the body is pale grey-brown with a dark zigzag dorsal stripe, and dark spots along the sides. However, the body colour and pattern of this species ranged between some individuals being yellow or reddish, while others may be all bronze or black.

Discorverd as a species to scientist in 2001.

Thank you!

Life Cycle

Some vipers lay eggs but the vast majority reproduce ovoviviparously. This means the egg shells are formed weakly and the snakes hatch inside the mother and are 'born' alive.

Adult length: 50+ cm

Habitat

Orlov's viper is comonly found in areas such as the Krasnodar Territory in Russia. They are also found in the Papai mountain in the west, to the peak of Bol'shoy Pseushkho mountain in the east. They are mainly found in the Mediterranean and sub-Mediterranean habitats, including clearings near rivers, meadows, transformed steppes and juniper forest ecotones

Diet

They enjoy mice, insects, frogs, and lizards. They do not have any type of preference for these certain "meals"

Sadly this is not the orlov's viper because they is not any footage of them eating in the wild, so here is a rhino viper striking it's prey.
