In 1800, the first built industrial manufacturing facility for chocolate is built by Antonie Brutus Menier.

They also belived that eating the fruit of the cocoa tree would give you wisdom and power.

The Aztecs belived that the cocoa tree was stolen from a god, from a place named Paradise.

In 1810, Venezuela's produced half of the world's chocolate.

In the 1900's chocolate became more popular and affordable.

Chocolate comes from the Amazon dating back to 2000 B.C. (4,000 years ago.)

One third of that was eaten by Spaniards.

Up until 1879 chocolate was a drink.

The word "chocolate" comes from the Mayan word "xocoatl" which means : Bitter water.

The cocoa beans were used for currency (money.)

Cocoa pods were in religious rituals, because they thought of it as a god's food.

The Aztec's chocolate

To the Mayans, cocoa pods symbolized life and fertility. (Being able to have a baby.)
