CARS.

INTRO

Most people in Britain travel by car. About 75% of households have at least one car. There are many different brands of cars. Cars have developed from a three wheeled bike to race cars and unimaginable long limos used for special occasions.

After the Second World War there was a growing need to move goods around the country at a faster pace and direct to the door. This saw a remarkable increase in the development of better lorries and trucks and the birth of some famous haulage companies. Roads and motorways are Britain's primary transport routes. Traveling by car, bus or taxi is by far the most common means of transport, accounting for 85 per cent of passenger mileage in Great Britain.

Motorcycles

Motorcycling is popular in Britain, both as a means of transport and as a pastime with over one million motorcyclists. A moped, with an engine capacity of up to 50cc, can be ridden at the age of 16 with a provisional license. A full motorcycle license can be obtained at the age of 17 after passing a test.
