The suitors of Penelope (Proci) is one of the main subjects of Homer's Odyssey (two major ancient Greek epics).

Knowledge of the Greek language had been lost in Italy until the beginning of 1400's, and really wasn't widely known in universities until after the Siege at Constantinople.

She had many suitors when her husband didn't come home from the Trojan War, so she said that she couldn't remarry until she finished weaving a cloak for her father in law, Laertes.

He was so proud that he got commissioned that he put himself in an altarpiece (in Petrucci's Castle) be given the letter of invitation to Siena.

The piece doesn't really show an opinion, it's rather objective. He is simply trying to tell the story.

Super faithful wife!

She said that she would choose a man that could string Odysseus' bow and shoot an arrow through twelve axes. Odysseus came to the test dressed as a beggar and won. He then killed all the suitors who were tormenting his wife.

The ticked of suitors relized she was tricking them and demanded she choose one of them to marry.

After everyday of weaving, she trickily un-wove the cloth.

Famed for her faithfulness to her husband for her cleverness.
