Observations

The experimental group the plant was a lighter green than the control group.

The control group had more leaves than the experiment.

Inferences

We infer that the experimental group was a lighter color unlike the control group unlike because white light is essential for a plant to create chlorophyll.

Another inference we can make is that the control group had more leaves than the experimental group because it was receiving white light.

ERRORS

  • People measured the plant differently.
  • The experimental group sprouted another stalk during the experiment which lowered the average height of all of the plants.
  • The plant was broken.

Conclusion

  • Oct 10th- Lentil Beans plants began to show growth
  • Oct 20th until the 22nd the EG did not show growth.

Exit Ticket

Independence

What would happen to the plant of the chlorophyll was removed ?

Why is photosynthesis necessary?

The hypothesis was if we put the lentil beans to absorb green light then it will grow shorter than the lentil beans absorbing the white light because white light has more energy

Voice

The hypothesis was NOT supported because the experimental group was taller then the control group.

However, other observations made us realize that the green light was not being absorbed in the EG, the light was reflected. The plants are green, meaning they reflect green light, thus they can't absorb it.

Experimental Question

What is the effect of green light on lentil bean plant growth?

Hypothesis

PHOTOSYNTHESIS

if we put the lentil beans to absorb green light then it will grow shorter than the lentil beans absorbing the white light because white light has more energy.

photosynthesis is the process in converting light energy into chemical energy.

BACKGROUND

Energy

  • The ability to do work or cause change.
  • The Law of Conservation
  • Energy travels as a wave.
  • Waves are the rhythmic disturbance that moves energy but not matter.

DO NOW:

A simulation will be shown that models our experiment.

1. In the piece of paper write your hypothesis. "If.. then.. because" format.

2. Choose what colors and type of plant plant you want to use.

3. BEGIN EXPERIMENT

Photosynthesis happens in the chloroplasts.

chlorophyll is what makes the plant green.

Title: Which Color of Light Best Effects the Growth of Radishes?

This experiment I researched helped me make my hypothesis and design the experiment because it showed me that other research has shown that lighter colors increase plant height.
