Test

  • Press (ON/OFF) for 2 sec, and release. A series of numbers will be displayed.
  • Press (CLR/TEST) for 2 sec, and release. a series of numbers will be displayed again ending with a blinking 9.
  • This indicates the unit is operational.

Glossary

Dose - Accumulated amount of radiation produced or absorb over a period of time (cGy)

Centigray - Unit of measure of absorbed radiation (1 centigray = 1 rad)

Rate - the instantaneous amount of radiation being produced (cGy/hr)

The AN/UDR13

Rate and Dose Modes

  • Rate is the instantaneous amount of radiation being measured. The combination of the RATE button and the ALARM button is used for Rate Alarm Setting.
  • Dose is the accumulated amount of radiation measured or absorbed over a period of time. Press the dose button until the DOSE icon appears at the top of the display and brackets are displayed. After a few seconds, the total dose will be displayed. The combination of the DOSE button and the ALARM button is used for Dose Alarm Setting.
  • After ten seconds, the AN/UDR-13 will be defaulted to Rate mode after the dose is read.

  • In READ DOSE ALARM LEVEL mode, within 10 sec., press CLR/TEST and then repeatedly press DOSE for desired UNIT AND DECIMAL POINT display.
  • Press CLR/TEST to lock in. Repeat above for desired digits and lock in each digit using CLR/TEST and then to RATE by pressing RATE.
  • The alarm can be tested by setting the Rate and/or Dose alarms to 0.
  • To enter the SLEEP mode when the unit is on, press the RATE button and hold it. While holding it, press the ON/OFF button until the display shows “SLP” followed by “---”. Release the buttons and the display will show the SLEEP icon at the top of the display.
  • To exit sleep mode, press the ON/OFF button until a “0” and the alarm icons on the left side of the display appear. Release the button and the unit will return to the RATE mode.
  • In RATE mode, press and hold ALARM, then DOSE and release both.
  • Return to RATE mode by waiting until display stops flashing and then pressing RATE button.

  • In RATE mode, press and hold ALARM, then RATE and release both.
  • Unit will return to Rate in about 10 seconds.
  • In READ RATE ALARM LEVEL mode within 10 sec., press CLR/TEST then repeatedly press RATE for desired UNIT AND DECIMAL POINT display.
  • Press CLR/TEST to lock in. Repeat above for desired digits and lock in each digit using CLR/TEST.
  • Return to RATE by pressing CLR/TEST after locking in all digits.
  • The alarm can be tested by setting the Rate and/or Dose alarms to 0.
