Look at the patterns you have been given on your desk (or chose one you have brought in).
Now find the continent where you think they might have originated.
Are your patterns in each continent all similar? Why are they different around the world?
Random name picker........
explain your choice of continent.
If you can't assign a continent, how could you categorise your patterns?
Extension: Take photo's of patterns using Frog Snap - Can you spot the base unit of the pattern?
Draw in your book a square roughly 3cm by 3cm. (you can use three lines to estimate)
Create the base unit for your pattern. You could use the inspiration you have brought in to help you.
Repeat to create 3 different patterns.
Use 2D Design to transfer your design into CAD. This will enable your design to easily be repeated.
1. Start by drawing your square 3cm by 3cm using the Snap to Grid feature.
2. Use the fill feature to add colour to your pattern unit.
3. Remember to remove your outline and group your final design. The simpler the Better!
Extension: Photograph your sketch and then use Frog snap to upload your design to Frog. You can then trace/vectorise the image (ask me how!)
The cool bit! - Now you can use the array tool to experiment with creating your own pattern.
Use the array tool (watch demo) to practice making cool patterns. Group and save your patterns.
Extension: Could you use Circular array for a different effect?

Complete 5W's analysis, using a mind map format. What might you need to find out?
Evaluation is an important task in Design and Technology. It helps you to understand how you can improve your product.
You should identifywhat worked well and why (to get a level 3)
You must Identify strengths and areas for improvement in products you have made (to get a level 4)
You must Test and Evaluate your product in the context of it's intended use (to get a level 5)
If you want a level 6 you need to evaluate your product in use and justify suggestions for improvements.
Level 7+ - Speak to your teacher!
You should also evaluate your own progress using the Levels in the back of your book.
