Geocentrism
Modern Geocentrism
The Science Behind Geocentrism
- Today, in the 21st Century, most have given up on Geocentrism as the truth about our solar system. However, few still do believe that the Earth is the center of the universe.
- Mainly Biblical literalists and Fundamentalists believe in Geocentrism today, while others believe in Geocentricity, in which the planets revolve around the sun, but the sun revolves around the Earth as a sort of compromise.
- Most today believe in Heliocentrism, where the Earth and planets revolve around the sun, which is at the center of our solar system. Science supports this system the most out of the three models.

- Ptolemy's Theory of the solar system explained the erratic behaviour of theplanets, stating all celestial bodies moved in circles around a central point, in turn orbiting the earth.
- The Ancient Greeks believed Ptolemy and noted that if the Earth orbited the sun, then the starts would shift at times during the year. They never found this to be true, also stating that if this was anyhow possible, there must be a immensely great distance between Saturn (the furthest planet) and the stars, a thought that seemed absurd.

My Thoughts on Geocentrism
The Churches
- I believe that the sun is the center of the Earth and that God made it that way for us. We can understand so much in today's world that we have enough supporting evidence of a Heliocentric solar system.
- People who still believe in Geocentrism today i believe are either
- 1: Stubborn people who believe what they want just because they can
- 2: People who truly believe that what the Bible says about the planets in Its passages is referring to Geocentrism and they interpret it that way
- 3: People who are too stubborn on their own ways, the past and what's in their heads to see the ways of God in today's world through scientific inventions, research, observations and discoveries.
- Many Religious groups and churches were not quick to forget Geocentrism.
- Several Biblical passages suggest Geocentrism is true if interpreted in that way. This is why the churches wouldn't change their ways, proven wrong or not.
- Galileo's telescopic observations and findings put an end to the mainly Geocentric-thinking world, proving that all in the sky have moons, mountains and other many earthly characteristics, thus proving that the celestial objects revolve around something else and spiraling Geocentrism further into question.
