CTR – Click Through Rate is calculated in percentage and is the percentage of users clicks divided by page impression (i.e. how many times web page is viewed) the higher the CTR the more revenue a publisher will generate.
Page Impression: is defined as a number of times Page is viewed. Each time a page is viewed, a page impression will be counted. A single visitor can make multiple impression on your site when you have good contents that will make him navigate from one page to another. If you have 500 visitors and they view 3 pages each that mean you get 1500 Impression on the average
CPC stands for Cost Per Click which defines how much earning a publisher receives each time a user of the website clicks and ads link. For example, if your Cost per Click is $0.20 and the number of clicks is 10, your total earnings will be ($0.20 X 10 = $20)
RPM which stands for Revenue per Thousand Impressions and is calculated like this (CPC X CTR X 1000). Let say you have 0.01 as CTR and 0.20 as CPC then your RPM will be (0.01 X 0.20 X 1000 = $2)
CPM Which Stands for Cost Per Thousand Impressions that is Clicks X CPC = revenue

- If the story makes you REALLY ANGRY it's probably a good idea to keep reading about the topic via other sources to make sure the story you read wasn't purposefully trying to make you angry (with potentially misleading or false information) in order to generate shares and ad revenue.
- It's always best to read multiple sources of information to get a variety of viewpoints and media frames.

“I started the site for a easy way to make money,” said a 17-year-old who runs a site with four other people. “In Macedonia the economy is very weak and teenagers are not allowed to work, so we need to find creative ways to make some money. I’m a musician but I can’t afford music gear. Here in Macedonia the revenue from a small site is enough to afford many things.”
Most of the posts on these sites are aggregated, or completely plagiarized, from fringe and right-wing sites in the US. The Macedonians see a story elsewhere, write a sensationalized headline, and quickly post it to their site. Then they share it on Facebook to try and generate traffic. The more people who click through from Facebook, the more money they earn from ads on their website.

Facebook Revenue Soars on Ad Growth
Facebook Inc. reinforced its standing as a mobile-advertising powerhouse, nearly tripling its quarterly profit at a time when its Silicon Valley rivals are underperforming.
The social network on Wednesday said advertising revenue jumped 57% in the first quarter to $5.2 billion from $3.3 billion. Mobile ads, which command a higher price than those shown on desktops, accounted for roughly four-fifths of that revenue.
