Impact

The Nutria destroyed the vegetation and habitats in the Wetlands. After the Nutria came, about 7,000 acres were lost just from Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, and about 53% of the remaining marsh was considered unhealthy. That is just the impact of a REFFUGE!

How to stop them

Brush your teeth kids...

There are many ways to stop the elusive Coypu from destroying swampland in your area. Some of these include a repellent applied to a plant or tree that tastes bad to Coypu, and they will stop eating it. Another way to get rid of these pesky poos is to make any loud or sudden sounds to spook them. Some Coypu predators include Alligators, Eagles, and Turtles. However a ore harsh solution would be live trapping, where you lure them in with bait.

"Yes master Coypu?"

Habitat

The Coypu is native to South America. But in 2002, the Coypu, also known as Nutria, was introduced for fur production (people wanted coats). Sadly though, things didn't go as planned. The Nutria destroyed the vegetation and habitats of Wetlands.
