There are issues when the exact date of the unification took place. Some say it was by 3150 BC, others say it was by 3100 BC or even by 3000 BC. Most say it was by 3100 BC, either way it took place 5,000 years ago.

Another issue is Narmer's birth and death. I've heard from one source that he was born by 3201 BC and died by 3101 BC, and another one suggests that he was born by 3050 BC and died by 3000 BC. The exact date of his birth and death still remains uncertain.

The unification of Egypt by Jacob Crump

According to Egyptian tradition the king of Upper Egypt named Narmer (or Menes) defeated the Scorpian king of Lower Egypt. Narmer then unified Egypt into one big kingdom, founded the first historical dynasty (of Egypt) and was crowned as the first Pharaoh. And also founded the city of Memphis.

The unification of Egypt marked the beginning of the Pharaonic Period which lasted from c. 3100 BC to the fourth century BC. This was a period when Egypt rose to glory and prospered; becoming one of the great powers of the Near East at the time. Conclusion: Egypt has a big impact on the west where it is very popular. And yet, it is one of the most well known ancient civilizations as well as one of the first.

Egyptian civilization was established by 4000 BC, which was 6,000 years ago.

The unification of the country took place at the end of the fourth millennium BC, which was roughly 5,000 years ago.

But, Egypt was a land of two kingdoms called Upper Egypt and Lower Egypt. Upper Egypt was located in the Nile river valley and Lower Egypt was located on the Nile delta as south as Cairo.
