Taika Waititi: Auteur

I do believe Taika Waititi to be an Auteur as, all of his movies have a distinctive style and quite a few of them are original ides thought up by Waititi himself. Taika also tries to add touches of his signature blunt, almost immature comedy to all of his films. Taika also has a role in some of his movies. Taika also likes to use warming relationships to catch the hearts of his audience. Overall, There are many obvious and some not so obvious features which are simply "Taika Waititi"

Thor: Ragnarok

Thor: Ragnarok is Marvel's next big film and the next in the Thor lineup. This film is set to premiere in 2017. It is being launched by Disney. There are currently no film trailers available.

Hunt For The Wilderpeople

Hunt For The Wilderpeople is a modern adventure film about a boy who gets lost in the forest. It is based on the New Zealand book: Wild Pork & Watercress. This film is the highest grossing New Zealand film ever, making $12 million profit. This film incluudes the constant blunt comedy and even the warming relationships present in 2 cars, one night.

What We Do In The Shadows

What we do in the shadows is a mockumentary comedy about a group of vampires living in the heart of urban Wellington. This film had a $1.6 million budget and grossed $6.9 million. A great success for a home grown movie. This film was created mostly by Taika himself and he also stars in it. Again, the blunt comedy is present.

Taika Waititi As An Auteur

Boy

"Boy" is Taika Waititi's third feature film. It was produced in 2010 and was a major success. It eclipsed several box office records and received rave reviews. For many years, it was the highest grossing New Zealand movie.

Eagle Vs. Shark

Eagle Vs. Shark is an oddball comedy romance and was Taika Waititi's first feature film. It screened at the Sundance film festival in the US, in 2007. This film had a budget of $1.8 million. It received reviews ranging mainly from 5/10 - 6.5/10. I have not listed any clips of the movie, as it is rated R16. The screenplay for this movie was written by Taika Waititi and this film also includes the signature blunt comedy.

Two Cars, One Night

By Oscar

Two Cars, One Night was Taika Waititi's first film to be nominated for an academy award. . This film was made for the New Zealand 48 hour film festival. It is about three kids in a parking lot, outside a pub, waiting for their parents to come back. This film was created by Taika and was his original idea. It includes blunt humor and relationships warming from hostile to friendly. Both of these features are common in many of Taika's movies.
