Whats so important about the economy?
First world countries are economically advanced (compared to other countries) makings us more privileged, in a sense. We have a high amount of education, adequate treatments, and proper sanitation. This prevents some diseases from spreading so easily. Third world countries though, are developing countries and don't have enough money for the things that we all need to stay healthy. Also, due to lack of education in this matter, simple things that can be done to prevent diseases from killing so many people are not coming into the limelight. This causes many countries to have a high mortality rate.
- If that's so, then what can first world countries do to help them? What can third world countries do to improve this? How does this affect other people in the world?
In Africa right now, a virus known as Ebola* is going around killing many people. The U.S.A in terms of trying to help them has brought about four people with Ebola (so far)to the U.S. They have collected samples and have also taken the symptoms in to account for trying to find the treatment and even vaccinations for this deadly disease. The U.S has also sent doctors over there to help train the workers to take care of the patients properly and to diagnose/treat them.
-Even though they haven't gotten anywhere yet, this shows how if first world countries start helping out the economically disadvantaged countries then this could help with there development and help save life's.
* Ebola is a deadly virus with a 90% mortality rate that has killed over 12,000 people.
(Ex. Africa)
In third world countries there is a lack of:
-Hospitals -Sanitation -Treatments (basically resources we need)
In third world countries there is a high population growth. This reduces the amount of resources available for the people. With the lack of money for sanitation, also comes the lack of money for hospitals or places to take care of the sick. That causes most of the people that are sick to be taken care of by family members, which causes the family members to catch the sickness. Third world countries also have a lot of people that are poverty-stricken. In these places there is a low amount of clean water (sometimes contains tapeworms), lack of food(causing malnutrition), unstable homes, and a lack of access to medical services. The nurses and doctors are also not that thoroughly educated with treating diseases and preventive actions. Thus causing many people to get sick and die due to the unhelpful treatment.
-To help improve this the doctors and nurses could get a more thorough education to help them with diagnosing sicknesses.
What is going on in first world countries?
(Ex. U.S.A)
First world countries are considered the "rich" countries.
They have:
-Hospitals - Adequate water -Access to basic medical care - Money (for resources) - Food
First world countries have education, the right resources, and have the money to give out basic medical care. Some poverty is witnessed in these countries, but not as much compared to third world countries. They have money for research, which helps in finding new vaccines and treatments to help with sicknesses/diseases.
- They help out third world countries by conducting research on diseases that are effecting them and find the vaccines and treatments for that. Which they then send back to the third world countries for them to use.
We might not all be living in the same state/country/continent, but we we all live in the same world. If we don't help out our fellow people then nothing will improve and we will never be connected as one.
