QTLS is a post-qualification process having completed a Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS).
This is the minimum qualification which will aid the creation of a online portfolio
(REfLECT+) however no ITE training is compulsory.
ITT Secondary teaching course providers set their own prerequisites. In general:
•Degree (min 2:2 with 50% of degree content within specialism)
•C grade GCSE Mathematics & English Language
Literacy and Numeracy skills tests
For those who have relevant former experience (overseas), trained in independent school or FE sectors, or are currently teaching unqualified graduates who have taught National Curriculum to correct age and ability groups in a minimum of two different school settings
spanning 3-19 (foundation through to 19) but not in a FE/HE environment.
QTLS
DTLLS, Cert Ed or PGCE to qualify for professional formation leading to QTLS status.
Assessment Only route.
Upon completion of a DTLLS, PTLLS, Cert Ed or PGCE apply to SET, formerly ETF who now hold the legacy of IfL) by submitting REfLECT+ portfolio.

QTS is only available upon completion of a course from a licensed ITT agencies, who are approved for specific training by the GTCE.
Normally gained upon end of ITT course.
If you fail the course you will not be awarded QTS status and lose all monies etc.
QTLS is available directly from SET having completed an individually catered portfolio of work via REfLECT+

QTS(Q) is aimed towards those teaching in compulsory education (3-11 or 11-16).
QTLS is aimed at those teaching in FE (14-18).
You do not currently need a qualification to teach in non-maintained schools or colleges legally.
Sometimes you can teach legally within maintained schools.
So the argument is less about “where can I” and more “where should I teach?"
Section 1: my teaching biography
In this introductory section describe your route into teaching or training:

Section 2: standardised elements
These are drawn from typical sources and are common to all candidates.
They are determined by a set of requirements that fit all teaching roles.
Completion of an approved initial teacher training qualification.
Confirmation of numeracy and literacy skills at or above Level 2.

Section 3: personalised elements
These are determined by SET and are non-standardised, personal and unique.
The personalised elements are:
Subject currency comprising written and supporting evidence, such as certificates
teaching and learning comprising written narrative plus supporting evidence.
Self-evaluation comprising written and supporting evidence plus self assessment
against the 2014 professional standards supporting evidence where possible
Professional development planning comprising written narrative
Reflective practice

Both are qualifications regarding ones ability to teach.
“All teachers with QTS are subject to The Education Regulations 2012.
[These] may additionally be used to assess the performance of teachers who are subject to these regulations and who hold qualified teacher learning and skills (QTLS) status.”
Teaching Standards
2014 saw SET (formerly EFT) create their own standards to which their practitioners can work within.
Qts is called the ‘Total Q’ of a speaker driver and is derived from an equation where Qes is multiplied by Qms and the result is divided by the sum of the same.
QTLS upon the completion of the sequencing of the rice genome we can now clone and analyze quantitative trait loci (QTLs) to produce the desired higher yield for food/biofuel.

The National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL) and General Teaching Council for Wales maintain all registrations, as well as issuing QTS certificates.
You need to be a member of SET to continue to have your QTLS status. The cost of undertaking professional formation leading to QTLS is £485.
SET recommend their practitioners are also members of other relevant agencies/associations.
QTS means you are licensed by the DfE to teach.
