What is a utopia?

By definition a utopia is an imagined place where everyone and everything is relatively perfect. But this is physically and metaphysically impossibly so we can't do this.

The utopias in the American 1800's were usually based upon faith and people were required to follow extremely rigid laws within their own communities.

Most people in America sought to better themselves by joining these rigorous settlements.

Most of these "utopian" societies failed due to the fact that they were to strict or people were inhospitable to others.

Even though they had good intentions at first, they soon decayed to covet social acceptance over religious pursuit.
