Lake Effect Snow
Lake effect snow occurs when cold air masses move over warmer lake waters. As the warm lake water heats the bottom layer of air, lake moisture evaporates into the cold air. It rises and begins to cool. The moisture that evaporates condenses and forms clouds, and snow begins falling

The snow started on a sunday night, and didnt stop for the rest of the week. All schools were closed for thre days at the least.
Backround
The upstate New York town of Oswego experienced an extreme lake effect blizzard in mid February of 2007. It snowed non stop for nearly ten days, leaving the town engulfed by a 8 foot blanket of snow. Snow banks reached roofs of houses, shoveling crews were charged $200 dollars an hour to clear one roof. This blizzard was the biggest the town had ever seen
