Simple, Informative, Wistful ,

Jhumpa Lahiri used a very simplistic writing style easy to understand and straight to the point . She makes many references to food and indian culture .Although The Namesake is written in the third person, we get the story through the filter of different characters' points of view, primarily those of Gogol, Ashima, Ashoke, and Moushumi.

Gogol had met Moushumi before in his childhood , but thay had never really talked . After his fathers death his mothers ends up setting him up for a date together and he agrees to go along with it . After Gogol meets Moushumi they stat dating and end up getting married . Well not for long ...

Gogol meets Ruth on a train and he recognizes her because they go to the same college .They Begin to talk and end up dating , he also loses his virginity to her . Sadly this relationship ends after a year and a couple of months .

Jhumpa Lahiri ; born on July 11, 1967 is an Indian American author. Lahiri's debut short story collection, Interpreter of Maladies (1999), won the 2000 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, and her first novel, The Namesake (2003), was adapted into the popular film of the same name. She was born Nilanjana Sudeshna but goes by her nickname (or in Bengali, her "Daak naam") Jhumpa Lahiri is a member of the President's Committee on the Arts and Humanities, appointed by U.S. President Barack Obama.Her book The Lowland, published in 2013, was a nominee for the Man Booker Prize and the National Book Award for Fiction

Gogol moves back to the city and because he is majoring in architecture he decides to take some extra classes , where he meets Bridget . Bridget and Gogol talk one night and they end up having sex despite the fact that she is a married woman . Gogol and Bridget dont really date they just use each other for pleasure until he moves .

Gogol meets Maxine at a party and she ends up inviting him over to her house for dinner . He meets her parents and begins to see her more and more until they start dating and eventually live together with her parents . Gogol even introduces Maxine to his parents even though they dont approve . This relationship also deteriorates after a year because Gogol goes into a depression over his fathers death .
