2.Add 10ml water in one pieces of bread(Bread A) ,1ml water in the other pieces of bread(Bread C).However ,not to add any water in the finally pieces of bread(Bread B).

3.Separate the three pieces of bread and put them into three zipper bag respectively.Put them in room temperature about a week.

Conclusion:

Humidity will affect the emergence of mold on the bread.If there is not enough moisture,mould will not emerge normally.Mould will appear if there is enough humidity on the bread.However,if there is too much water in the bread,it will slow down the speed of emergence of the mould.

What condition will favor the growth of mould?

What is bread mould?

Bread mould is a kind of fungus that is commonly found on bread surfaces. It takes food and nutrients from the bread and causes damage to the surface where it lives. It causes a bad taste to the bread also.

Air , moisture in the air or bread, nutrients in the bread and the proper air temperature.

Apparatus & Materials:

  • Plastic zipper bag
  • 3 Breads
  • Water(moisture)

Growth of bread growth

Bread mould appears on the bread surface as a wind blown spore. The moisture and nutrients from bread, also the air are benefit the growth of mold . There will be some black dots as mold appear on the bread surface if you explore the bread around the air about 3 days and there is enough moisture to grow the mould.

4.You can see the result.

1.Perpare 3 pieces of bread(A,B and C).

  • In bread A(added 10mL water) ,there is no any mold on the surface.

Bread A

  • In bread B(not added any water) ,there is just a little of dim mold on the surface.

  • In bread C(added 1 mL water) ,there is some clear mold on the surface.

Chow Yu Hong:

After works in one with my group members to finish this project,I have recognized that although water will affect the emergence of mould on the bread,it also affect the speed of growing mould.If there is high humidity in the surrounding,it will slow down the speed of growing the mould.Vice versa,mould will grow slowly if it is under a medium amount of moisture.I have also enhanced the technique of searching information and learnt how to reorganize and edit them into a good way.Moreover,I know that distinguishing the accuracy of the information is important in searching the data.

Chung Wai Yeung:

During experiment , I and my group members have intended a extensive period of time to doing research or investigate for getting the success of the experiment.Because of the experiment, I know that there are several primary reasons , the air temperature ,the nutrients and moisture.IF I don`t pay much efforts in the experiment , I would not know the knowledge and details of development of mould thoroughly also the methods to prevent mould.In addition, the experiment makes me more inquisitive that I will ask many questions and find the answer of it to make me realize the details of development of mould.

Ma Ka Kin:

Following a topic, I learned not only how to do the topic, and more people learn how to get along, how to accept others' opinions. After some discussion we, the results of one we all agree, but also spent a lot of time. In the teacher's guidance, the students efforts, mutual tolerance and mention the next point, we carefully knot as complete.

Wong Ka Wai:

In this project,I had learn that the important of team spirit,the division of labor and solidarity but the most important things is that I can know more about Biology.Now,I am interest about Biology.
