Now we have a small play based on hunting

Hunting Methods

-One hunting method was breaking the beavers house at dusk and slaughtering the beaver in it

-Beaver was used to make hats,clothing and e.t.c

-another way they hunted was by forming a fence around the river in the shape of a triangle.People waited with weapons for the caribou to come and then they killed it or they chased the caribou into the fences trapping the caribou.this was another hunting method

-some weapons used in New France were spears,bows and arrows,muskets,darts,boomerangs,e.t.c.

-guns/firearms used in New France are shotguns,muskets,handguns,single-shot firearms,multi- barreled revolvers e.t.c

Crops grown in New France

-some food that they grew were fruit,nut trees,and berry bushes

-habitants in Quebec grew vegetables like corn,beans,peas,and cabbage

-bread was made from grains that were grown by habitants

-In may they would plants seed such as corn then from august to October they harvested the plants they grew such as barley

-main crops grown by Iroquoian were maize,beans,and squash

-Late in the summer the woman picked berries,nuts,wild plants,onions,pumpkins,and cabbages to add to the winter supply

-Tobacco was grown and harvested in the fall

Wine

-wine is made from fermented grapes

--Settlers in New France tried growing grapes but instead they started importing wine

-expensive wines were usually used for celebrations which were imported from spain

-relied on meat and it's by-products,as well

as bread

-fertile soil provide settlers fresh fruits,vegetables,herbs,and grains

-fancy feasts were too expensive for common people but wealthier people preferred foreign food and spices

Game

settlers of New France ate wild game including birds,moose,caribou,beaver,pigeon,and teal

-Aboriginals hunted wild game including bison,elk,deer,and raccoon

-In the winter settlers ate salted bacon for survival

-during spring and summer it was considered fishing season

-settlers usually caught eel,cod,salmon,and bass
