Hatshepsut

the first woman Pharaoh

By: Christine Lyon

Religon

THE END!!!

-She claimed to be a child of the sun god Amon, who was also called Ra.

-She claimed that Amon-Ra came to her mother while she was pregnant and awoke her with nice smells. Hatshepsut said that at the time, being in the presence of Amon-Ra made her a very divine child.

-Along with the fact of her being the supposed child of Amon-Ra, she associated herself with the lioness, Sekhmet, another goddess. No other pharaoh had done so before, so that was a special part of Hatshepsut.

Achievements and Accomplishments!

-She was overall, the very first woman pharaoh, even when it was key that men were pharaohs.

-She first shared the power of a pharaoh with her nephew, who was heir to the throne at that time, but eventually she found a way to push him away so she got the power all to herself.

-Hatshepsut had one child, a girl, named Neferure, but not from her husband. People at the time suspected that she had a 'secret lover' named Senmut.

Leadership Qualities!

-To gain the same respect that a man would get, she wore the feak beard, told others to illustrate her as a man, and sometimes even wore their clothing!

-When her husband started a temple in Deir el-Bahri, she completed it during her time as pharaoh and some think that she made it better than her husband would've!

-She showed peace to other countries that borderded Egypt by giving lots of gifts, so they hopefully wouldn't call war upon Egypt.
