Animals eat fruit!

Spore reproduction

is limiting.

Plants Are Super Smart!

(just like you)

Why?

They use their environment to transport their seeds.

Plants that reproduce using spores, like the fern....

1. Must live in wet

environments.

2. Cannot travel very far.

Introducing.....

SEED PLANTS!

Seed

A structure that contains a young plant inside a protective coating.

Are plants smart?

All seed plants share 2 characteristics:

1. They have vascular tissue.

2. They have seeds.

Pollen delivers sperm cells directly near the egg.

Instead of making spores, seed plants make pollen.

Ferns are SEEDLESS vascular plants.

If ferns don't have seeds, how do they reproduce?

Ferns reproduce using spores!

When ferns release dust-like spores, the spores germinate into male and female parts. There must be enough water for the sperm to swim towards the egg.
