Victor Frankenstein as a Byronic Hero

Frankenstein's death is ultimately caused by his own actions in the events leading up to his death. however, in true Byronic Hero form the reader feels sorry for Victor. He loses everything and is driven absolutely mad. The reader forms a connection with him and his death brings sadness and pity.

Frankenstein's Death:

Frankenstein abandons his monster because it is hideous. This shows a struggle with his integrity, something common for a Byronic Hero.

- Frankentsein's complete obsession with creating his monster keeps him isolated from friends and family for years.

- This is the first evidence we see of a Byronic hero in Victor Frankenstein.

- This isolating obsession continues in Frankenstein's hunt to kill his monster.
