Types of brain waves

1. beta

2. alpha

3. theta

4. delta

5. gamma

how do brain waves work?

Generated by the individual cells of the brain called neutrons (building blocks of the brain).

Neurons communicate with each other by electrical changes which are displayed in the form of brain waves.

EEG (electroencephalogram)

delta waves

- Frequency: 0.5-4Hz

- Deep, dreamless sleep and in very deep, transcendental meditation where awareness is fully detached.

- Too much: Brain injuries, learning problems, inability to think, severe ADHD

- Too little: Inability to rejuvenate body, inability to revitalize the brain, poor sleep

- Optimal: Immune system, natural healing, restorative, deep sleep

- Increase delta waves: Depressants, sleep

alpha waves

- Frequency: 7.5-14Hz

-Deep relaxation and when the eyes are closed, daydream or during light meditation

- Too much: Daydreaming, inability to focus, too relaxed

- Too little: Anxiety, high stress, insomnia, OCD

- Optimal: Relaxation, concentration, creativity, learning

- Increase alpha waves: Alcohol, marijuana, relaxants, some antidepressants

What are brain waves?

Brain waves are patterns of electrical activity occurring in the brain.

theta waves

- Frequency: 4-7.5Hz

- Deep meditation and light sleep (REM dream state)

- In between alpha and delta when sleeping

- Too much: ADHD, depression, hyperactivity, impulsiveness, inattentiveness

- Too little: Anxiety, poor emotional awareness, stress

- Optimal: Creativity, emotional connection, intuition, relaxation

- Increase theta waves: Depressants

Beta waves

- Frequency: 14-40Hz

- Activities: Normal waking consciousness and a heightened state of alertness, logic and critical reasoning

- Too much: Adrenaline, anxiety, high arousal, inability to

relax, stress

- Too little: ADHD, daydreaming, depression, poor cognition

- Optimal: Conscious focus, memory, problem solving

- Increase beta waves: Coffee, energy drinks, various stimulants

gamma waves

- Frequency: Above 40Hz

- The Insight Wave

- Recently discovered

- Little is known about this state of mind

- Bursts of insight and high-level information processing.

Why so many?

How to alter your brain waves for success?

1. Meditation

2. Listening to binaural beats

Each brain wave has its own set of characteristics representing a specific level of brain activity and a unique state of consciousness.

"we are the controllers of our reality"

Thank you for listening
