You are a historian reflecting on this period in history. You've been asked to create a product that describes the Spanish American War or the building of the Panama Canal to today's population. For this assessment, you may write either a newspaper article or a storybook about the causes, motivations, and effects of the Spanish-American War or the building of the Panama Canal.
The U.S had predicted for awhile, the forthcoming encounters with Spain, which is also known as "La Furia Roja", which means “The Red Fury”, and were equipped to go to combat. They mobilized first by sending the USS Oregon (also known as the BB-3), which is a “pre-dreadnought Indiana-class battleship of the United States Navy” who was authorized on June 30th of 1890, construction started on November 199th of 1891 and was launched on October 26th of 1893, from the Golden State, which is California, to Cuba. However, the expedition was more than 2 months and they would have to halt at the zenith, which is the highest tip or highest peak, of South America for various times to get coal, which there are various different types of coal in South America. It was at this moment, the U.S. government realized that it was very indispensable, and somewhat critical, to have a waterway that could help carrying materials, as well as people, quicker through the oceans.
The Panama Canal is a “ship canal in Panama that connects the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean” that “cuts across the Isthmus of Panama and is a key conduit for international maritime trade” that was first created by the French back in 1881. However, due to the failure the workers that went through while constructing the Panama Canal, the company actually became bankrupt while undertaking this project on building the Panama Canal. So, the United States actually approved to take up on the construction. Then, after Colombia deprived of, or denied, the United States with the right to take it over, the people of Panama, also known as Panamanians, would decide to be insurrect against the Colombians, and then the United States actually reinforced them. This uprising would actually give the Panamanians their own liberation and individuality. After all that, the United States had control over the Panamanian’s property, which helped in constructing the Panama Canal.

At the end the construction of the Panama Canal, the total cost for the United States was actually over $375 million, which was actually the exact same amount of money Watchtower nets from a Brooklyn factory sale back on July of 2013 (http://jwsurvey.org/cedars-blog/watchtower-nets-375-million-cash-windfall-from-brooklyn-factory-sale) and that is also the estimated net worth of American actor, director, and producer Clint Eastwood (http://www.celebritynetworth.com/richest-celebrities/actors/clint-eastwood-net-worth/). But anyways, at least the workers now have a 40 miles, which is 131.234 feet, of a path that is now traveled very easily between both the East and West as well as helping cutting the travel distance by about 8,000 nautical miles, which is 9,206.236 miles. August of 1914, which in fact was the starts an outbreak of war, was open for shipping and also was comprehensively protected by the military in case of "terrorist" attack. So, who has control? Despite the fact that the Panama Canal is still serving as a trade route for the United States, the Panama Canal is fully controlled by Panama.
The United States started on the Panama Canal on May 4th of 1904 with John Findlay Wallace, who was a former chief engineer and general manager of the Illinois Central Railroad, as the chief engineer of the Panama Canal Project. The temperatures that occurred during the construction of the Panama Canal were mostly very blistering and the area was also vastly mountainous. In order for the Charges River to not flood and/or overflow, people would have to have built a dam since the flood would be caused by thick precipitation, which mean heavy rain. They also came across a few issues, like yellow fever and malaria, were actually among some of the other tropical infections and syndromes. Once they eradicated majority of the bacteria that were carrying all of the diseases, it was benign, meaning to be safe and secure, for the workers to carry on with the process of the Panama Canal. During the process of Panama Canal, there were more than 5,000 of the labors deceased due to either illnesses or calamities. In fact, at the end of building the Panama Canal, the workers had dug up a total of more than 260 million tons of land.
