Is the Candy Lady real?

The Legend of

The Candy Lady

(not the Candy Man)

Will you find candy on your windowsill?

After a while of receiving candy, the wrappers would have little messages on them asking the children to come and play. All of the messages were signed

"The Candy Lady."

INVESTIGATION GONE WRONG

The children who wouldn't "go and play" eventually told their parents about the candy and notes.

A local police officer began investigating after a farmer had found a child's rotten teeth in a candy wrapper. But according to the legend, he was found dead with his eyes stabbed with forks and pockets filled with candy.

Legend says that children in rural Texas would find candy sitting on their windowsills when they woke up. In fear that they would not receive anymore, they did not tell any adults.

To this day, whenever a child goes missing, locals say that the Candy Lady lured them to their deaths with candy.

Children believe that she stabs them with a fork or pulls out their teeth.

Clara Crane

Once she was released from a mental asylum due to overcapacity, children in her hometown began to go missing.

Thus the legend of the candy lady took flight.

Clara was a young, married woman in Texas. Her daughter Marcella was killed in a horrible accident and she blamed it on her husband.

She poisoned her homemade caramel candies and gave them to her husband as an act of revenge.

According to this newspaper article, Clara Crane was a real woman that murdered her husband. But the article shows no connection to the Candy Lady.

Locals still tell this story and are afraid to this very day that the Candy Lady continues to lure children to their disappearances and deaths.
