Prevention Tips

Symptoms

Basal cell carcinoma (BBC) is a pearly bump on the skin. Usually appears on the head, neck, or shoulders. Small blood vessels can be visible and there is usually crusting and bleeding.

Don't get sunburn and don't tan. Wear protective clothing. Apply sunscreen often. Get your vitamin D safely by food. Be sure to go into shade as well.

Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is a red, scaling, thickened, patch on the exposed skin. These may also bleed. Untreated SCC can develop into a large mass.

Recommended Treatment

Surgical removal is the most common recommended treatment for all types of skin cancer. People who can,t go into surgery can be treated by external radiation therapy. In other or advanced cases, immune therapies, vaccines, or chemotherapy can be used.
