E England-England was one of the most aggressive colony builders of all time. It was said "The sun never set on the British empire." This originated from the fact that England literally had colonies around the world.

I Italy-During the start of imperialism, Italy was very poor. They established as many colonies as they could to bring in wealth. Italy was assisted in colony building by England, Germany, and France.

G Germany-Germany was one of the major European colony builders. They seized a great deal of land in Africa. They controlled Cameroon, Tanganyika, and Namibia

J Japan-Japan was very opposed to becoming a colony. They dispelled all of the western priests and merchants. They entered an age of isolation that seemingly protected them from the west's culture and conquests.

H Hawaii-Hawaii was an example of U.S. imperialism. It send a bunch of sugar cane growers there who made quite a profit. When the native government started to voice their disapproval of this, it was crushed.

C Conquer-Land to conquer is what every country sought. Battles were fought to acquire land regardless of the cost. More land equals more resources, and more resources means more power.

A Africa-To the Europeans, Africa was a massive, unexplored land with many resources for the taking. Due to many European countries requiring resources for their industrial plants, they went to acquire new supplies. Therefore, many countries made colonies in Africa.

B Boats-Boats were the primary method of transport during the Age of Imperialism. There were only three ways to cross water back then. You could swim, jump, or take a boat. As oceans are too large to swim or jump across, a boat is the only feasible option.

D Diseases-Diseases killed many people. Because the people of less developed areas had no resistance to european diseases, a great deal of them were killed. Diseases were sometimes deliberately brought to kill native populations

F France-France had strong colonies in Vietnam. Throughout Vietnam's colonization, the Vietnamese continuously attacked the French Colonies. They lost control in 1954.
