But industrial agriculture is a special case: it damages the soil, water, and even the climate on an unprecedented scale.
Twenty two million American workers produce, process, sell and trade the nation's food and fiber. But only 4.6 million of those people live on the farms-- slightly less than 2 percent of the total U.S. Population.
On average, every hour, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, around $6 million in U.S. agricultural products--grains, oilseeds, cotton, meats, vegetables, snack foods, etc., will be consigned for shipment for export to foreign markets.

No matter what methods are used, agriculture always has some impact on the environment.
Although agriculture advances have been revolutionary many people don't agree that we should be hurting the environment for our own good. There is Habitat loss, wasteful water consumpton, soil erosion, pollution, and climate change.
Society has been impacted by Agricultural advances. Modern agriculture machinery helps society expand and develope by supplying food to the
In agriculture many jobs were formed because of the increasing population, but many jobs were taken away because of the machinery that was invented to get things done quicker and easier.
water farming
"Perhaps the most appropriate definition is that it is the process of improving farm labor productivity through the use of agricultural machinery, implements and tools." -fao.org
Society, economics, culture and politics have been affected by agricultural mechanization.
Society
Invention of basic machinery such as plows and sickles
The mechanics of agriculture have affected society in many ways. When the first basic machinery was invented they were not very efficient, so the population could not increase at a faster rate. But as the machinery was made better the population increased at a faster rate, affecting society by bringing more population to towns and citys and to learn new skill sets.
Economics
Hand and hand with new people came new jobs and opportunities for agriculture. With more people to research, make, fix, and run new machinery comes jobs in the market of economic growth. Leaving more people with jobs and money and expanding the economy.
Our culture has also been affected by the advancement of agricultural machinery. Our way of life has changed, instead of growing up on farms and working long hours on the farm we now have more relaxing time and time to learn other things and become more educated. This is all because of the machinery we have used and created to make farming more efficient.
