What is a Basketball ?

Who invented the basketball?

James Naismith invented the basketball in 1891

as a game to keep students oppupied during the

harsh new england winter

The Basketball is a ball with air in it that bounces back. People use to play game called basketball and the ball is used for passing, shooting, dunking, and dribbling. heres an example of the pro's !

How are modern basketballs made.

Originally the basketball was made of leather

panels with a rubber blader inside.

There was also a cloth lining for support

Basketballs have improved since the original basketballs.

Now, they are made with a rubber bladder filled with air.

The bladders are left in a chamber to take shape. Next, a machine precisely cuts the leather panels. Professional basketballs are made using a composite leather. The bladder is covered with polyester and nylon threads and then covered with glue. The panels are then placed on the bladder. After testing the basketball is ready. The new design is used because it makes for better bounce and better grip.

Who uses the basketball?

Millions of people use basketballs today. NBA players use it for their profession. Most people use it for recreation, or fun.
