How can I accomplish Mylar Photography?

There we have it!

  • First, make sure you have a good general idea of what you're going to shoot.
  • Next, take your Mylar and wrap it around the lens you have chosen and tape it to itself without taping the lens itself.
  • Set aperture according to the lighting you have available, you do not need a specific aperature setting.
  • Shoot away!

You now know how to (semi) successfully take Mylar themed photos, it's a very fun experiment and I hope you enjoyed and learned from it as much as I did! You will make some mistakes with this, but it's worth a shot!

Is that the only way?

It is not, if you have a big enough piece of Mylar, you can drape it over a chair and place your subject on the chair on top of the Mylar to get a different Mylar effect.

Helpful Tips:

  • Always make sure you have great lighting.
  • If your subject is a living thing, make sure it is 100% still or your Mylar would be ruined.

Thank you for watching!

What does it look like?

Here is one example of Mylar Photography that I found on the internet.

Have you tried it?

I'm here to walk you through the steps for Mylar Photography

I have, my first try wasn't a success. ->

What is Mylar Photography?

Mylar Photography is accomplished with the polyester film, obviously called Mylar, and a few more things.

Now my second try, was much better.

As you can kind of tell.

What else will I need?

I also tried the other type of Mylar as well

This is basically the

most simple form

of Mylar.

  • Lens of your choice. (Macro recommended)
  • Tripod (optional)
  • Hot lights or Window Light
  • Something colorful to shoot.
  • Creativity.
