- E coli bacteria from fresh spinach in multiple states of the United States hospitalized 102 people, infected 31 with HUS, and left 3 dead.
May, 2008
- A recall was first issued at a Kroger in Michigan but was eventually expanded to the meat company, Nebraska Beef Ltd. The outbreak left a total of 49 people ill, 27 hospitalized, 1 with HUS, and 0 dead.

July, 2011
- Germany reported 852 patients ill with HUS. Of those 852, 32 died. America reported 6 with HUS and of those 6, 1 person died who had recently traveled to Germany.
