the Emperor and his

family were at the

top of the social

scale in Ancient

China. The Emperor

ruled from a palace in

the capital city.

Nobbles

The noble class in china was very

priviledged. Nobles were typically

the extended family of the Emperor

and Empress and those people that

excelled in their fields particulary

in the military

Officals

officals were another

group that held high social

stats in ancient China.

Boys whose families could

afford to send them to

school began their education

at an early age so as to

become officals and were

required to pass a difficult exam

Peasants

The peasant farmers in ancien china were one of the lowest social classs. they were still were considerd very important as they provided food for the other citizens in ancient china.

Artisans

Artisans were part of the commoner

classes that inclued painters,

carpenters, potters, jewellery makers.

Artisans earned more than farmers

but less then merchants. They did not

have high social status but were

'respected for their skills.

Merchants

The mecrchant class inclueded of

trader, animal breeders adn money lenders. Merchants were considered the lowest social class in ancient china.

Slaves

slaves did exsist in ancient china but they made up a small propotion of the population. Some slaves in ancient chinawere relitives of crimenals. parents also sold kids for the money for that faily or daults sold them selves.
