As two of the United States most Prominent astronauts, John Glenn and Neil Armstrong were two very important "firsts" in the United States space race against the soviet union.

Neil Armstrong VS. John Glenn

John Glenn, best known for being the first american to orbit the Earth. He was aboard the Friendship 7 spacecraft in 1962 when he accomplished this.

Neil Armstrong other hand, was shot into stardom when he was the first person to step on the moon. In 1962, he went on his first flight on the Gemini 8 spacecraft. On July 21st 1969, Neil Armstrong and the crew of Apollo 11 became the first people to walk on the moon

After his six year NASA career, John decided to try his hand in politics. He was forced to withdraw from the race due to a concussion when he hit his head on his bathtub

In 1974, John Glenn was elected senator of Ohio. his political career lasted twenty five years until 1999.

John Glenn also held the record or the fastest time flying from coast to coast. He achieved this in 3 hours and 23 minutes.

Both astronauts were test pilots for NASA, before they were made famous for their astronaut careers.
