At 7:30 Thursday April 18th James Wong's Macbook Pro went missing from his lock box. At this time enrichment was being held and a stick ball game was just ending.

Blood Drop

- While trying to pry open the lock box the perpetrator cut himself leaving a drop of blood.

- Collection : When collecting the blood from the crime scene the we would swab the droplet with a cotton swab and take pictures of the blood drop. We would package these swabs in separate breathable tubes for examinations. Examination: The tests performed on the blood would be a luminol test and Kastle-Meyer color test. The Kastle-Meyer would help determine that the stain is blood you would only need a swab. Then the luminol test would help determine if there are any other traces of blood in the crime scene. Also we would check the blood type by performing an anti serum test. To get a control sample you would have to get it from your list of suspects. Also you would take a sample of James blood to make sure it was not own his blood.

Master Red Lock

-The lock recovered at the crime scene is a standard lock you would but on an athletic locker. The lock is a rod which snaps down into place.

- Collection : The first thing you would do is photograph the lock. It would be packaged in a paper bag with the correct information. The lock contains a fingerprint which would be taken back to the lab and taken over with lifting tape.

- Examination: After pulling the finger print off the lock we would try to put the print into AFIS and try to compare it with the other fingerprint we found. Look for any tool marks on the lock to see if it was pried open. You can check the serial numbers on the back to try and obtain a control sample from the same company.

- Evidence Type: Class evidence for the lock while individual for thumbprint

Clothing Fiber

- Blue clothing fibers were found right near the lock box opening.

- Collection: The fibers would be collected with tweezers and packaged in separate paper bags.

- Examination: Back in the lab first they look at the fiber under a microscope. This would help identify whether it was natural or synthetic. You could compare them against standard or reference fibers to check which exact fiber they would be. A refractive index test could also help you identify. Also test it with possible fibers from any suspects. A control sample would be to find the same brand and make that the fiber comes from and compare them under a microscope

The Criminal

Evidence Collaboration

- Fingerprints on lock and desk came back

as the same print

- Shoe print came back as a size 7 and 1/2

- Blood type was A positive

- Clothing fiber came from a blue Nike sweatshirt

which was found in Marco's room

- Mr. Allen confirmed Mrs.Rellers new obsession for a MacBook by looking into her browser history

- Mrs. Reller's and Ryan Mahn's alibi were confirmed

by multiple sources

- Marco Wong's alibi was not confirmed and his shoe size and blood type matched what was found at the scene.

Shoe print Impression

- A patent clear shoe print impression was made on the carpet of the room. It looked to be a Nike shoe because of the special groves on the bottom of the shoe.

- Collection: When collecting the shoe print impression on the carpet floor the first thing that would be done is photos of the print. Taking multiple photos of the impression from at least two different orientations. A label and a ruler would be placed in position with the impression for the photo. While trying to use appropriate lighting. Using an electrostatic lifting and gel lifting techniques we would lift the shoe print.

- Examination: Back at the lab we would try and take this lifted shoe print and match it with a shoe using SICAR. By taking the print we would be able to identify what brand and size we could ask local shoe stores if they have sold this specific shoe to anybody.

A control sample would be from a model shoe that could be taken from on of the suspects.

- Evidence type: Class evidence

Fingerprint

- A thumbprint was found on the desk and it was a patent print easily visible.

- Collection: The thumbprint found at the crime scene would first be photographed in good light. Using adhesive tape we could take the print off the surface and tape the print to a card labeled specifically with the right information.

- Examination: After the fingerprint has been successfully moved to the card, once back at the lab we would run the print through AFIS (Automated Fingerprint Identification System). If AFIS is able to make a match a professional examiner would look at it and try to make at least 12 positive identifications between them. We would try to match it against the other print found at the scene to try and match those together. A control sample is already provided because of the print found off the lock.

- Evidence type: Individual evidence
