Water Quality

Facts about Water

• The Mackenzie River is the longest river in Canada

• Wetlands cover about 14% of Canada’s land area

• Maligne Lake is the largest glacier-fed lake in the world

  • Determined by physical, chemical and biological characteristics.

  • Mainly the responsibility of provinces and territories.

A healthy person can drink about three gallons (48 cups) of water per day.

Drinking too much water too quickly can lead to water intoxication(wonkiness). Water intoxication occurs when water dilutes the sodium level in the moving blood and causes an imbalance of water in the brain.
