The East Indian Company was failing for profit because it brought tea that wasn't being brought. The Tea Act lowered the price on the tea so colonists would buy it. The American's didn't see it as the British Government did. The Colonists felt that it represented a 'Taxation without Representation' which only led to the Boston Tea Party where the colonists refused to unload the ships. The Britain Government felt they were helping the East Indian Company and it would benefit everyone as the colonist could buy it at a low cost.
After the Currency Act, the Stamp Act was passed on March 22, 1765 by the British Parliament. This tax required that all printed paper had to have a tax on it. This included ships papers, legal documents, licenses, newspapers, and even playing cards. The colonists didn't completely disagree, even though it brought discomfort because it brought money to defend American Territory, but they felt that it could bring in new taxation in response. The British Government again only wanted to control the colonies with an iron fist.
The Sugar Act reduced the tax on sugar and molasses but in response, the Navigation Acts were to be increased. The tax was included on coffee, indigo, and wine. The British government by-passed the colonist in enacting this Act which made the colonists mad. Great Britain felt that the colonists should be thankful for their generosity but the Britain Government benefited from the seized ships.
The Townshend Revenue Act was brought in by the English Parliament which brought taxes on glass, lead, paints, paper and tea on the colonies. The colonists felt that it abused power and Britain only wanted to control them as they fought for independence. Britain, however, felt it kept control on the colonists but after time went on the Circular letter reduced colonial imports.
After the French and Indian War ended, the Currency Act was enforced by the British government and the act enabled the use of paper money to be banned in every colony. The goal was for the British government to have more control over the colonies. The colonists reacted greatly with discontent which only built up to the American Revolution while the British only reacted by trying to enforce control over the colonies.
