Confidentiality / Privacy

I will maintain the strictest levels of confidentiality with all clients and sponsor information. I will have a clear agreement or contract before releasing information to another person or entity, unless required by law (ICF Code of Ethics, 2008).

  • All educational facilities and institutions have confidentiality rules they must adhere to, this transfers to coaching.
  • Building trust also requires that the student understands that their information is safe with you.

Conflicts of Interest

I will seek to avoid conflicts of interest and potential conflicts of interest and openly discuss any such conflicts. I will offer to remove myself when such a conflict arises (ICF Code of Ethics, 2008).

  • You must keep the integrity of the position at the highest.
  • When a conflict of interest occurs someone else can take over.
  • Conflicts of interest can be family relationships, situational personal knowledge and other items.

Professional Conduct with Clients

I will not give my prospective clients or sponsors information or advice that I know or believe to be misleading or false (ICF Code of Ethics, 2008).

  • TRUST is one of the most important factors.
  • Trust is acquired through honest and sincere communication.
  • If you do not know an answer do not try to wiggle around with with misleading information, inform the client you will find out the answer and get back with them.

  • A coach should/must accurately represent themselves; their area of specialty and experience to those that they are coaching.
  • You cannot falsely identify yourself or your area of expertise.
  • Students must know what areas of expertise you have in coaching.
