4.How is the robot taught to perform its task?

Some Sensors

5.What sensors does the robot have and how does the robot use these sensors?

10.Sketches, pictures, and/or videos of ASIMO performing its tasks

The ASIMO has some preprogrammed gestures and spoken commands, it recognizes voices and faces. It also has IC Communication cards.

ASIMO has a speed sensor and a gyroscope sensor. The speed sensor senses the position the ASIMO is in and the speed it is moving at. The gyroscope adjusts the balance of ASIMO. It also has floor surface sensors in its feet and six ultrasonic sensors in its midsection. Also joint-angle sensors and a six-axis force sensor.

7.Describe the impact that this robot has had or could have on its intended audience.

3.Does the robot have an end effector? If so, is the robotic end effector multi-functional? If so, what other tasks can it perform?

ASIMO impacts its intended audience by performing tasks that humans can do. It could have more people biulding it because of how useful it is

9.Predict and explain how this robot may be altered to perform more or different tasks in the future.

Yes,the robot has human like fingers in order to perform human like tasks.ASIMO can do many things like bring coffee, pour juice etc.

Citations

I think the ASIMO should be able to do work below sea level because it is dangerous for humans. ASIMO should be able to do construction work like building large bridges, skyscraper etc.

1.What task does the robot perform? What human function or task does this robot simulate?

Obringer, Lee Ann, and Jonathan

Strickland. "How ASIMO Works." HowStuffWorks. HowStuffWorks.com, n.d. Web. 13 Apr. 2015. <http://science.howstuffworks.com/asimo.htm>.

6.Name some advantages and disadvantages of using a robot to complete this task.

8.What type of jobs/careers can this robot create to provide employment for people?

The ASIMO robot is very human like.It was created to help around the house, help the elderly, or help someone that can not walk or that is in a wheelchair. It can also perform more dangerous tasks like walking through fires and disarming bombs.

ASIMO will most likely take some peoples jobs with its skills. It can replace mailmen, secretarys, dog walkers etc.

Some Advantages of using this robot is that it can be used in extreme situations like disarming bombs.

Some disadvantages of using this robot is that it takes other peoples jobs, it is also expensive to build.

2.Where is the robot used? What is its work envelope (how many degrees of freedom or flexible joints does it have)?

The robot can be used anywhere, such as homes, offices and schools. The U.S. will not be using ASIMO for any military purposes. The ASIMO has 34 degrees of freedom. It has three degrees of freedom in its neck, seven on each arm and six on each leg. The number of freedom degrees was determined by observing human joints,
