By Mira marrying an Indian student it shows the reader that she didn't actually marry the man that her father chose, but she did marry within her culture. This supports the statement that Mira ISN'T for America or it's ways.

Bharati v. Mira

Throughout the essay, Bharati compared and contrasted herself with her sister.

The purpose of this essay is to inform the readers of her personal American immigrant experience compared to her sister's, Mira. these tellings depict the struggles that many immigrants face.

I am an American citizen and she is not. I am moved that thousands of long-term residents are finally taking the oath of citizenship. She is not.

Mira married an Indian student.

She is here to maintain an identity, not to transform it.

America spoke to me- I married it

Pathos was used in this sentence as well. Applying this technique gives the reader a sense of how close they were. This applies to us, because there is that one person who we are so close too that it wouldn't take for someone to tell us to go and assist them if they need it.

Pathos was used to get the reader to appeal

to the emotions of Mira. This technique was

cleverly used, because the author knew that

This was the turning point of the author's feeling towards "The Land where all men are created equal.

The place where every person is considered to be citizens of America."

the reader(s) would think to themselves,

that they've also felt like they've been used,
