Bearded Fireworms live in thin tubes buried in sediments at ocean depths from 100 to 10,000 meters. This species is widely distributed from the Caribbean, throughout the warmer waters of the Atlantic Ocean, and all the way to the Mediterranean Sea.
Bearded Fireworms are diveded into sedentary forms and free-living forms. It illustrates the adaptation of their body form to their habitat and lifestyle. The free-living forms, which include families of carnivorous predators as well as direct deposit feeders are commonly composed of a series of identical body segments. They have well developed muscles and move by swimming, crawling, or burrowing with their parapodia adapted as paddles or legs. Burrowers often have a muscular proboscis to aid in digging. In contrast, the body segments of sedentary, tube-dwelling polychaetes show specializations for different functions.
Fireworms can both asexual and sexual reproduce. The most well know trait of the Fireworm is there bio luminescence during sexual activity. Spawning usually occurs 2-5 days after a full moon. Asexual reproduction is being able to produce without artner so you're are just doing it alone.
