Purpose: provided kids between the ages of 16-25 with education, jobs, recreation, and counseling

Achievements: The NYA helped 2.1 million students find jobs at schools as janitors, teachers, and lunch server while getting a good education.

Outcome: It was a very sucessful program during the Great Depression, but started to go down during World War 2.

Eleanor Roosevelt became a symbol to the NYA, often visiting them and writing about them in her autobiography. "One of my ideas I agreed to present to Franklin was thatof setting up a national youth administration," she explained.

In 1937, the first black NYA center was built in Langston.
